Disney's Home Alone Reboot has Found its Main Cast

News had come out last August that Disney was planning on rebooting the Home Alone franchise after the Fox acquisition, and it seems like the film is pushing forward. Just in, we now have an announcement for the principal cast.

As per Variety, the movie has cast Jojo Rabbit supporting actor Archie Yates as the lead kid in the Home Alone reboot. Joining Yates in the film will be Ellie Kemper (The Office, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) and Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2).

While initially thought that Kemper and Delaney would be playing the parents of Yates' character, it apparently doesn't seem to be the case. With the thieves in the original Home Alone being as important as the main kid, I have a feeling that Kemper and Delaney will be the main antagonists of the film.

The parents are usually the more boring characters in Home Alone, so I would expect the movie to cast someone less recognizable than two seasoned comic actors. Then again, I'm just speculating here, so everything I guessed could be wrong.

For now, Dan Mazer (Ali G, Who is America?) is on board to direct the film with a script from Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell. We don't know when this movie is set to come out yet, but we could get something in the next few Christmases.

Besides Home Alone, Disney is also working on reboots for other Fox properties like Night at the Museum, Cheaper by the Dozen, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. If fans are lucky, the studio should also be considering a reboot of the Percy Jackson franchise.

No release date has been announced for Disney's Home Alone reboot.
