Disney Spent $100 Million For Star Wars: The Mandalorian And Even More For Disney+ Marvel Shows

It looks like Disney is putting series money into its various Star Wars and Marvel series set for release on Disney+.

According to a report by Business Insider, the Mickey Mouse House is spending a lot on Jon Favreau's upcoming Star Wars live-action series, The Mandalorian. Disney CEO Bob Iger just recently revealed that the highly-anticipated Space Western set to launch together with Disney+ this November actually cost "around 100 million" to produce. With eight episodes for its first season, this budget means that Disney gave the series $12.5 million per episode – a little bit less than the $15 million per-episode budget that HBO allocated for the final season of its hit fantasy epic series, Game of Thrones.

But that's not the highest that Disney's spent on its Disney+ projects. The Mickey Mouse House has allegedly allocated $25 million per episode of its upcoming Marvel Studios series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, and Hawkeye.

Previous reports revealed that each Marvel series would be about six to eight episodes long. That means that they'd cost between $150 million to $200 million to produce each.

Disney's really going all out with its content for Disney+ - probably because the studio is banking on Marvel and Star Wars fans to fill out the subscriber base for its upcoming streaming platform. Guess you really have to spend money to earn some. Then again, it's hard to imagine Star Wars and Marvel fans ignoring Disney+ when Lucasfilm and Marvel are preparing major content for the site.

Disney+ launches on November 12, 2019.
