Disney Presented Wolverine And Black Panther Clip At CinemaCon

For the longest time ever, Marvel fans have watched as Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds pestered Hugh Jackman to reprise his role as Wolverine and star alongside the Merc with a Mouth in future Deadpool films, only to be rejected time and time again by the X-Men franchise's former James Hawlett.

Now, it comes as a surprise to hear Disney teasing the arrival of the X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe using footage of Jackman's Wolverine together with Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther.

The Mickey Mouse House just recently held a panel at this year's CinemaCon (via Cosmic Book News), and during the event, the studio featured a sizzle reel featuring Jackman in X-Men (2000), his first film as Wolverine.

"I've put some sizzle reels together in my time, but that one blows my mind, I'm still just getting my mind around this," Disney Films head Alan Horn noted.

The reel featured the clip where Wolverine was saying the lines "What is this place" and then cut to a shot of Black Panther, making it look like Wolverine was speaking with the King of Wakanda and waiting for an answer.

While Disney might have most likely cut the clips this way as a means to introduce the X-men into the MCU, some might mistake the reel as an indication of Jackman's return as Wolverine. Of course, this seems rather unlikely. Marvel has no intention of continuing the X-Men franchise and plans to reboot the mutant franchises after the release of X-Men: Dark Phoenix and New Mutants.

Marvel's next film, Avengers: Endgame premieres April 26, 2019.
