Disney Confirms Jungle Cruise 2, Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt Set to Return

Jungle Cruise may not have been the most successful Disney film of all time but it still did quite well considering the circumstances. After all, the film based on Walt Disney's theme park attraction of the same name managed to become a global blockbuster during the pandemic era. So it's no surprise that the House of Mouse is already developing a sequel that will bring back Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Jungle Cruise 2 is now in the works at Disney Studios. The news comes shortly after the first film earned $100 million at the domestic box office in the past weekend.

The report confirms that Blunt and Johnson will return as Dr. Lily Houghton and Frank Wolff, respectively. Michael Green, who co-wrote Jungle Cruise, will pen the screenplay. In addition to that, director Jaume Collet-Serra and the film's producing team of John Davis, John Fox, Beau Flynn, Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia will produce the sequel. Scott Sheldon will still serve as executive producer.
