Did Matt Reeves Reveal the Villains for The Batman Last Year?

The Batman has been getting a lot of buzz after it was announced that Robert Pattinson was in final talks to be the new Caped Crusader, and now we may have news on upcoming villains in the film. What's interesting is, it may seem that director Matt Reeves had already revealed the villains last year.

This was pointed out by Daniel Richtman on Twitter:

Though Penguin had been the long-rumored villain of the movie, new buzz is saying that the film will introduce Catwoman and the Riddler as main players as well. We don't know how much truth there are to the rumors, but the film was said to be introducing a whole rogues gallery of Bat-villains. I didn't think it was necessary for all of them to be the main antagonists so multiple villains is very doable.

My only concern is that having too many main players could mess with the balance of characters in the film. We've seen this in movies like Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. I think what's necessary is that the movie clearly tells us who the main antagonist will be, with other villains in supporting roles—just like what they did with Spider-Man: Homecoming.

With Pattinson likely to have landed the role already, everyone is eager to see who's going to be going up against him in the next few months. Here I am just sitting and hoping that Jeremy Irons reprises his role of Alfred from Batman v Superman.

Matt Reeves' The Batman is set to come out June 25, 2021.
