Deadpool 2 Star Jack Kesy to Star in New Hellboy Reboot

For the past few weeks, we've been hearing some updates about the new Hellboy movie reboot that is currently in the works following the 2019 David Harbour-led film that received disappointing reception. What's more surprising is that the project is set to begin production soon which means that they're currently in prep mode.

Now, as they are gearing up for filming this spring, Deadline has confirmed that Deadpool 2 and The Strain star Jack Kesy has been tapped to play Hellboy in the new reboot titled Hellboy: The Crooked Man. He will be following in the footsteps of Ron Perlman and David Harbour and he is the youngest one yet.

"Jack Kesy is a dynamic actor who has the ability to morph into his roles. His talent and stature are perfect for this younger Hellboy. I was very impressed with him while working together on The Outpost," Millenium Media co-president Jonathan Yunger said in a statement.

Brian Taylor is directing the film. Hellboy comic creator Mike Mignola and Chris Golden are writing the screenplay. Production is set to begin this spring in Bulgaria. Additional casting is currently underway ahead of its filming.

The film will "see Hellboy stranded in 1950s rural Appalachia with a rookie BPRD agent. There they discover a small community haunted by witches, led by a local devil with a troubling connection to Hellboy’s past: the Crooked Man."

Kesy is known for playing Black Tom Cassidy in Deadpool 2 and has starred in films such as Baywatch, 12 Strong, The Outpost, and Without Remorse. Besides The Strain, he also starred in the TNT series Claws where he appeared in its first three seasons.

This is an interesting casting choice since Kesy is younger than the previous actors who have played the character and this is definitely an indication that the new reboot will be very different since Hellboy is younger than we've ever seen him. Now, let's wait and see which other actors will they cast in this new reboot.
