The DC Extended Universe is seemingly in the midst of a major renaissance with Warner Bros. Discovery at the helm and it looks like CEO David Zaslav is truly committed to making the franchise as formidable as it can possibly be, after years of failing to hit the mark with fans and critics.
Recently, it was confirmed that Ben Affleck has signed on to appear in the next Aquaman film and while details about his involvement have remained scarce, it gave fans renewed hope that his version of the caped crusader will be sticking around, three years after he officially announced his Batman retirement.
Well, those hoping we'd finally get ourselves the standalone Batfleck project we were once promised won't like the sound of this. According to a new scoop from Twitter insider MyTimeToShineHello, despite Affleck's involvement in The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, it doesn't necessarily mean that he's back in the franchise permanently.
The account claims that the solo Batfleck film or series isn't happening and as it stands, plans still call for Michael Keaton to be the DCEU's main Batman. Check out the report here:

It's a shame that Batfleck never realized his true potential in the DCEU and if he's in fact on his way out of the franchise, one can hope that Warner Bros. Discovery will give the character the proper send-off he so rightfully deserves. I can't deny though that I'm still hopeful that Ben will remain, especially with rumors of Henry Cavill making his Superman comeback.
The Flash is currently scheduled for release on June 23, 2023, while Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hits cinemas on December 25, 2023.
