2022 has been a pivotal year for the DC Extended Universe as the Warner Bros. Discovery merger official took over. For the last two months, CEO David Zaslav has made a clear statement that he wants to restore order to the franchise first launched in 2013, with reports saying that he'll be laying out a 10-year plan in the coming months.
Well, it looks like we won't have to wait any longer to know more about Zaslav's grand DCEU scheme, and according to a new scoop from The Hollywood Reporter, the newly-established merger is cooking up several exciting new projects, including a Man of Steel sequel which would see Henry Cavill return full-time as Superman.
The outlet notes that WB Discovery has a strong desire to secure Cavill who has long been campaigning for his Superman comeback. As it stands, the project is currently in search of writers with Charles Roven tapped to produce.
On Twitter, fans were given renewed hope following the news and many of them believe that this game-changing development could very well lead to the DCEU becoming a formidable franchise. Check out some of the reactions below:

Of course, we still have to wait for WB Discovery's official announcement before rejoicing but the idea of Cavill finally being given his Superman sequel sounds too good to not be excited about. Hopefully, this will finally turn the tide for the DCEU because let's be honest, the franchise has been on the brink of obscurity for a number of years now.
Man of Steel is available to stream on HBO Max. Meanwhile, Henry Cavill is rumored to make a cameo appearance in Black Adam, hitting cinemas this Friday.
