Hourman is created originally by Ken Fitch and Bernard Baily who debuted in Adventure Comics #48 with Rex Tyler, the original Hourman. He is a scientist developing a miracle vitamin, Miraculo, that gives him superhuman strength and speed. However, this isn't unlimited as his powers only go one hour at a time.

Because of this, Hourman has teamed with Justice League, Justice Society of America, the Freedom Fighters, and the All-Star Squadron.

Rex's successor is his son, Rick Tyler, who is the Hourman in the Crisis on Infinite Earths and he also served with the Justice League, and Justice Society of America together with Infinity Inc. The third to don the suit and powers of Hourman was an android, Matthew Tyler.

Beyond the comics, Hourman has appeared in various shows such as DC's Legends of Tomorrow, and Stargirl, Justice League Unlimited, and Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Hourman was supposed to have his very own series in The CW but it never got through.

DC and Warner Bros. have been trying to put out titles that are not as popular as Batman or Superman or Wonder Woman to develop the characters and bring them to life such as that of Hourman to form part of the DCEU.

As of the time of writing, there is no release date yet as to when DC's Hourman will be premiering.
