David Dastmalchian Expresses Interest in DC Return in Another Role

You may know David Dastmalchian from Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man franchise, however, he was also known for his The Suicide Squad character as Polka-Dot Man. Though he died in James Gunn’s 2021 film, DC fans continue to hope to see him return in some shape or form, given his iconic performance in both franchises.

“Being on set with James Gunn was one of the greatest experiences of my life,” Dastmalchian said in a recent interview with Comicbook.com, “If it’s the one chance that I got to do that, then I’ll savor and be grateful for that for the rest of my life. But if there is some miraculous way that he, in all of his brilliance and imagination, finds for Abner or any other character that he thinks I might be right to portray, to come into that world, I’m there in a second."

“Abner is by far one of the greatest roles I’ve ever gotten to play as an actor,” the actor added, “James wrote me a gift of a role. So if there was some origin story, or if there was a flashback sequence, that could be cool.”

While it remains to be seen how exactly Dastmalchian could return to DC, let’s not forget that his initial role as being one of Scott Lang’s best buds, he was recast in a different role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania as “Veb”, a slime-like creature living in the Quantum Realm.

So, pretty much anything is possible in a superhero franchise. Plus, given the demise of his character, the actor is pretty much open to hold any other roles he might be handed with. Some of which include Jervis Tetch aka Mad Hatter.

“I think there’s something so horrifying, so complicated, and so challenging about manifesting a character like Jervis Tetch into a physical performance,” Dastmalchian continued, “I would throw my hat into the ring any day, I would love to audition for it if somebody was trying to put together a film where the Hatter was coming.”
