Dave Bautista Addresses Drax's Overlooked MCU Story Arc after Thanos' Death

Drax the Destroyer might just seem like one of the funny aliens in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but he had an important role to play when Guardians of the Galaxy first came out. After all, he was the first character who was determined to kill Thanos, albeit as revenge for the death of his family. Sadly, that part of Drax's story arc has somehow been overlooked amidst the main MCU plot and Dave Bautista has finally addressed it.

It's no secret that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to be Bautista's final MCU flick. The Dune star has stated that he will not return as Drax after the sequel is released. One fan had pointed this out on Twitter and suggested it had a lot to do with Drax's own endgame being overlooked when Thanos was killed by Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame.

Interestingly, Bautista retweeted the post along with his own take on the situation. Check it out below.

"That whole Drax,Thanos history seemed to get swept under the rug. Always wondered why but every reason I could come up with just makes me shake my fucking head. It is what it is," Bautista wrote.

It's understandable why Bautista is disappointed with what happened to his character. After all, Drax's main reason for joining the Guardians of the Galaxy was to go after Thanos, who had ordered the death of his wife and child. He was unsuccessful in killing Ronan the Accuser (although the team worked together to achieve that) and had then decided that he would take revenge on Thanos. But that part of his story isn't happening in the MCU anymore.

Still, we can look forward to Drax's return in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Hopefully, the film will give the character a proper send-off worthy of a beloved MCU figure.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is scheduled for release on May 5, 2023.
