Daniel Bruhl is Returning as Zemo in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Captain America: Civil War introduced us to Daniel Bruhl's Baron Zemo, and he was the villain who successfully disbanded the Avengers. What's interesting is, Marvel still has plans for him down the line, and he's going to be in the Disney+ series, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

This was confirmed during Marvel's SDCC 2019 panel last weekend (via Mr. Sunday Movies). It was said that the panel had showcased some footage of Zemo putting on the iconic purple mask from the comics. We don't know when we'll actually get a look of that footage, but with the series set to come out late 2020, we could get a look earlier next year.

In the comics, Helmut Zemo was an adversary of Captain America who ran the Masters of Evil. He was a Nazi scientist who had the mask permanently glued to his face after Captain America broke into his lab and botched one of his experiments. Of course, he's grown to be more insidious as the character evolved, and the take on Zemo for Civil War is probably the most realistic.

What's interesting is, there were actually some rejected concept art from Civil War which had Zemo put on the iconic mask, but the Russo Brothers were said not to be able to make it work naturally in the film. Hopefully with The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, they've found a way to give us Baron Zemo in full form.

Catch The Falcon and The Winter Soldier when it debuts on Disney+ in the fall of 2020.
