Despite the Star Wars universe's growing momentum in streaming thanks to the strong performances of shows such as The Mandalorian and Andor, Lucasfilm has been having a hard time getting its act together when it comes to the franchise's stagnant movie slate.

Just recently, it was confirmed that several high-profile projects are no longer moving forward, including Patty Jenkins' Rogue Squadron and the mystery project produced by Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige.

This week, we also learned that Damon Lindelof and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's anticipated film project may also be in danger of either getting pushed back or being canned altogether. If you haven't heard yet, the Watchmen writer along with Justin Britt-Gibson have reportedly abandoned the film which is eyeing a December 2025 release and it came as a huge surprise to many.

Now, new details surrounding Lindelof and Britt-Gibson's shocking exit are coming to light, and it appears that the duo may have actually been removed by Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy. The Hot Mic's Jeff Sneider claims that the initial draft of the script Lindelof came up with for the post-sequel trilogy story wasn't good.

What's even more shocking is the insider's claim that there's actual tension between Lindelof and Obaid-Chinoy as the former allegedly didn't know he was working with the Ms. Marvel director.

As it stands, we still don't know what Lucasfilm's Plan B is but this is something the production company has dealt with in the past. Now, we wouldn't want to say that this is a case of history repeating itself but Kathleen and company should've known better by now.
