There's only a few weeks away until Star Wars fans would be able to see the epic conclusion of the Skywalker Saga with the release of J.J. Abrams' The Rise of Skywalker. And while fans are curious to see what unfolds in the upcoming movie, Daisy Ridley, who plays the character Rey, provided the fans a bit of a context to get a hint of what's to come.
Ridley recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly where she was asked to describe the upcoming film in three words. "Definitely dark," the actress starts with something expected. The overall tone of the trailers we've seen so far are indeed dark in nature, especially with all the fight scenes we had a glimpse at.
Secondly, the actress thinks "there are bits that are genuinely scary." Finally, the third word she would use to describe the film is "sad." However, she's not finished yet. Even though she was only asked for three words, Ridley added another one, maybe to not make the story seem so ominous. She adds, "and joyful."
Dark, scary, sad, and joyful seem to be all the words you would want to be looking for in a movie. And since the Episode IX will provide answers and resolution, it is likely that in order for the heroes to attain their goal, they'd have to go through something really dark. Add the fact that Emperor Palpatine is expected to return, the movie would be scary, seeing how the Sith Lord is very very powerful.
Ridley also described the movie as joyful, which pertains that, of course, fans would still get to see some happy moments and lighthearted scenes. In a similar fashion, she also described the movie as sad. Which could suggest that we might be saying goodbye to one or some of the characters in the trilogy.
