The expectations are certainly high when it comes to the action sequences in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Interestingly, Daisy Ridley may have confirmed that Episode IX will deliver a truly epic fight scene between Rey and Kylo Ren this December. The Ophelia star even revealed just how the cast and crew of the highly anticipated film have achieved that.
Ridley recently spoke to WIRED about working on The Rise of Skywalker and she admitted that there were some major changes in the props department. This seemingly minor yet significant tweak made sure that the actors could work better on the set.
"Well, the interesting thing about this film is that we concentrate more on the fact that [the lightsabers] are light, because the lightsabers were so heavy, as Eunice said, who is our new stunt coordinator, that it was more like broadsword fighting, which isn't technically what it's supposed to be because lightsabers are supposed to be light, by nature," Ridley said. "So they actually made the lightsabers lighter for us. We, in this film, have, perhaps one of the most epic fights in Star Wars."
That's certainly good news for fans who are expecting that could rival the fight scene that pit Rey and Kylo Ren against the Praetorian Guards in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Hopefully, Ridley knows exactly what she's talking about and The Rise of Skywalker will blow everyone away.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is scheduled for release on December 20.
