There's no denying that Spider-Man: No Way Home has been generating quite the buzz within the Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom and if the latest rumors are to be believed, the fourth Spidey flick could in fact serve as the live-action adaptation of the Spider-Verse. The rumor mill began spinning when it was confirmed that both Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx will be reprising their villainous roles which came as a major shocker to a lot of people considering their films — Spider-Man 2 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 were not set in the MCU.

Naturally, their involvement in the upcoming Phase 4 film sparked speculation that their respective rivals Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will also be returning to the fold and aid Holland's version of the wallcrawler. Several reports have suggested that Kirsten Dunst and Emma Stone will also be making an appearance in the film which only made the anticipation more intense.

As it turns out, the star of Disney's live-action Cruella film is well aware of the ongoing rumors surrounding a potential Gwen Stacy return. We hate to break it to you though as Stone herself finally dismissed speculation over her MCU arrival. In an interview with MTV News, she said: "I have heard those rumors. I don't know if I'm supposed to say anything, but I'm not [involved]. I don't know what you're supposed to respond as an alumnus."

Of course, Emma's new declaration doesn't mean much at this point and we all know the level of secrecy that comes into making these Marvel films, so she's probably just playing coy to avoid giving away major spoilers. If the character does in fact show up in the film, she'll most likely be a different version of Peter Parker's love interest since the Gwen Stacy from Garfield's Spider-Man universe died at the hands of the Green Goblin.

Spider-Man: No Way Home hits cinemas in December.
