Move over, Avengers: Infinity War, because DC is attempting the most ambitious crossover with Crisis on Infinite Earths. The event promises to bring back actors from multiple franchises together, and we have our first look at Smallville's Tom Welling reprising the role of Clark Kent.
Check him out:
At this point, I think the red flannel is starting to be the signature look for Clark Kent. We got the shirt way back in the first Superman movie, and we even see Henry Cavill wearing one in Justice League.
No doubt, people will want to see Welling in a full costume one way or another. One big gripe that fans had with the original Smallville series was that they never gave us Welling in the full Superman suit. With Brandon Routh getting the Kingdom Come look, I'm sure a lot of fans are hoping that Welling gets something as well for his Superman return.
Speaking of a returning Superman, we also have some new images of Routh's Clark Kent. Besides donning the black Superman shield, this version of Kent has also gone to be the editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet. We don't know what his exact relevance to the story will be, but it will be amazing seeing Routh tackle the Man of Steel again. While I like to disregard Superman Returns, I thought that Routh played the part really well.
Crisis on Infinite Earths will start with Supergirl on Dec. 8, and continue with Batwoman (Dec. 9) and The Flash (Dec. 10). The whole event ends on Jan. 14 with Arrow and DC's Legends of Tomorrow.
