Confirmed: Tom Welling Reprising Superman Role for Crisis on Infinite Earths

A lot of people joke about Avengers: Infinity War for being the most ambitious crossover in pop-culture history, but The CW may just be giving Marvel a run for their money with Crisis on Infinite Earths. Just in, the crossover event is said to be bringing back yet another Superman.

According to TV Line, Tom Welling, who famously played Clark Kent in Smallville, is set to reprise the Superman role in Crisis on Infinite Earths. EP Marc Guggenheim had this to say about Welling reprising his Man of Steel:

"For eight years, Arrow has stood on the shoulders of Smallville… Simply put, there would be no Arrow, and no Arrowverse, without it. So when we first started talking about ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths,' our first, second and third priorities were getting Tom to reprise his iconic role as Clark Kent. To say that we're thrilled would be a Superman-sized understatement."

Besides Welling, the show had already confirmed that Brandon Routh will be reprising his own Superman from Superman Returns (but this reprisal will draw influence from the Kingdom Come comics). Longtime Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy has also been cast as a live-action, older Bruce Wayne. Fingers crossed they got Will Friedle to play a live-action Terry McGinnis as well.

Though Avengers may have brought together multiple heroes under the Marvel banner, Crisis on Infinite Earths will bring together characters from multiple different franchises, and I think that's amazing. Who else do they have to bring for this crossover? Henry Cavill?

Crisis on Infinite Earths will start with Supergirl on Dec. 8, and continue with Batwoman (Dec. 9) and The Flash (Dec. 10). The whole event ends on Jan. 14 with Arrow and DC's Legends of Tomorrow.
