Chris Rock's Brother Signs Celebrity Boxing Deal: "I Should Get in the Ring with Will Smith"

Following Will Smith's scandalous slap with renowned comedian, Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards, Chris Rock's younger brother Kenny signed a deal with Celebrity Boxing, expressing interest to get in the ring with Will Smith.

At the press event announcing his deal with Celebrity Boxing, Kenny Rock was asked by TMZ if he thinks his brother Chris Rock and Will Smith should go face-to-face in the ring as well. Kenny responded, "No they shouldn't, but I should get in the ring with Will Smith." And when asked if he could beat Will Smith in a boxing match, Kenny replied, "Yes. No ifs, ands or buts about it." He declined to make a statement directly to Smith, simply saying, "I'll let the hands do the talking."

Chris Rock and Will Smith's altercation at the Oscars still remains a controversial topic even today. Following the humiliating slapping incident, Smith officially resigned from The Academy. Shortly after Smith's resignation, The Academy later announced that Smith would also be banned from future Oscars events for 10 years.

Kenny Rock has always been very vocal about the humiliation that his brother went through on live television, and after The Academy's recent announcement regarding Will Smith's 10-year ban at the event, Kenny still has doubts whether The Academy will adhere. “Well, we have to see if he's actually gonna get the 10-year ban, They might say a 10-year ban and after three years they'll think that we may have forgot about it and slide him in there after two years, after three years, after five years. So we have to make sure these people do what they say they're gonna do." Kenny said.

On the other hand, Will Smith issued a public statement day after the Oscars altercation. Smith apologized for his "unacceptable and inexcusable" and called himself a "work in progress." The actor also directly addressed Chris Rock, saying "I was out of line and I was wrong."

Kenny Rock still hasn't yet received any opponent for his first Celebrity Boxing deal, but according to him, he's open to brawling with anybody willing to step up and take on the challenge.
