Chris Pratt Won't Be Doing an Italian Accent for Super Mario Movie

While many people had mixed opinions on the cast for the upcoming Super Mario Hollywood film, it seems that we won’t be hearing the iconic Italian accent that the character is known for.

In a recent interview with TooFab, the co-producer for the Super Mario film Chris Meledandri suggested that Chris Pratt, the actor who will be playing Super Mario won’t be using the iconic Mario accent as his voice was already “phenomenal” and he is looking forward for people who hear it.

As of this write-up, there hasn’t been a new trailer or other sneak peeks released for the film. But many people have already made so many comments in regards to the cast.

Chris Pratt will be playing the main character Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy will be playing Peach, Charlie Day will be playing Luigi, Jack Black will be playing Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key will be playing Toad, and Seth Rogen will be playing Donkey Kong. The original voice of Mario, Charles Maritnet will also be in the film but will be doing cameo voice roles. Other cast members in the film include Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.

The upcoming animated movie is scheduled to premiere on December 21, 2022. Animation studio Illumination, notable for producing the Despicable Me films, will producing the film. The Super Mario film project was announced in 2018 with Melendandri and the creator of Super Mario himself, Shigero Miyamoto are credited as the producers.

Aside from being involved in the Super Mario film, Chris Pratt is also confirmed to voice Garfield in an upcoming animated film by Sony Pictures. The new upcoming Garfield animated movie still has no official release date. Although this is the case, people online are already sharing opinions similar to the impact on Pratt’s confirmation as voicing Mario.
