Those who have seen the Disney+ film Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers know that it is full of massive cameo of characters from both the Disney library and the other studios as well. One of the notable characters who showed up in the film is Ugly Sonic, who is based on the original design of the character in Sonic the Hedgehog prior to the fan backlash. However, as it turns out, a character from the galaxy far, far away was supposed to take his place.
Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers storyboard artist Simeon Wilkins posted on social media an animatic video of the Fan Expo chase scene in the film where Jar Jar Binks is featured in the scene instead of Ugly Sonic, who ended up making it in the final version instead.

Wilkins didn't provide any explanation regarding why Jar Jar Binks was swapped out for Ugly Sonic or whether Ahmed Best would have reprised the voice role of the character if he ended up being part of the film. The animatic video did show that several characters throughout the scene were swapped out as well for the ones that ended up making it in the film instead.
It does make sense that the film considered the idea of using Jar Jar Binks given how the character is the most divisive one in the Star Wars franchise and, in some ways, he is in a similar spirit with Ugly Sonic in terms of the fan reaction towards them. Either way, it would have been fun to see Jar Jar Binks show up in the film although it is understandable why they didn't end up using him.

There are some fans who are still wondering since the Disney acquisition of Lucasfilm whether Jar Jar Binks will show up at some point on the screen again and perhaps redeem the character. Let's just wait and see if Lucasfilm has plans regarding that in the future.
