Chihayafuru Manga Ending Date Revealed

The romantic slice-of-life manga Chihayafuru has been running for well over a decade now, making it one of the longest-running series on Kodansha’s Be Love magazine.

This manga is popular among romance fans for its compelling story and premise that center around Karuta – Japanese playing cards. Recently, the manga’s author has revealed that the Chihayafuru manga ending is finally upon us.

Chihayafuru Manga Ending Date

Manga author Yuki Suetsugu recently announced on her official Twitter account that the Chihayafuru Manga will end on Chapter 247 which will release this August.

In her Tweet, she stated that Chapter 246 is the penultimate chapter of the manga, and it will be published in the August issue of Be Love magazine which is set to release in July. Meanwhile, Chapter 247 will be published in the September issue which is slated to release on the first of August. This means the Chihayafuru Manga ending is officially on August 1, 2022.

Chihayafuru’s run started in December 07, and over the years, it has become one of the most popular romance manga in Japan. Aside from winning several manga awards, the series has received not only an anime adaptation but also live-action movie adaptations.

The manga follows Chihaya Ayase, a girl who befriends Arata Wataya, talented karuta player in her youth. Arata sees potential in Chihaya to become a great karuta player and encourages her to play the game.

Thanks to this, Chihaya sets out to become the best karuta player in the world, but she is separated from Karuta as they grow up. But in High School, Chihaya forms a karuta club with the help of a childhood friend as she continues her goal of becoming the world’s best karuta player and getting reunited with Arata.

Chihayafuru Anime Ending

The Chihayafuru anime series consists of three seasons ranging from 24 to 26 episodes in length. The first season came out in 2011, with the second season airing in 2013. There was a big gap between seasons two and three as the third season was released in 2019.

Given the confirmation of the manga ending, some fans might wonder when the Chihayafuru anime ending will be. As Chihayafuru Season 3 is covered only until Chapters 138-139 in the manga, there are still a lot of manga chapters to cover.

There is no official announcement yet regarding Chihayafuru Season 4 release date, but if the anime gets renewed, likely, the anime will not end on the fourth season.
