The main characters are anthropomorphized blood cells, hard at work to ensure the body functions normally.
While of course, it isn't a substitute for proper schooling, the story has been praised for its educational value as it informs fans about the working of the human body in a fun way.

Cells at Work Code Black Episode 9 will air next Thursday the 18th of February 2021 for premium Funimation users. If you are streaming for free, you'll have to wait an extra week, until the 25th of February, but episode 8 will then become available to you on the 18th.
