There are good examples that show that celebrity reality shows can be successful regardless of what you may feel about them.

A notable example is Keeping Up with the Kardashians which follows the daily lives of the Kardashian-Jenner family. Despite the polarizing reception of the series, it is still successful as it made the family into a massive celebrity dynasty and it has a big viewership due to its drama and fun moments.

There are also reality competition shows like Dancing with the Stars which shows our favorite celebrities competing to become the best dancer in the ballroom. After two decades, it is still one of the most popular reality shows today.

Shows like these prove that celebrity reality programs have value as a piece of entertainment and it can be successful as long as you deliver the goods.

However, there are also celebrity reality shows that end up with bad results and show that it can be an absolute disaster for the people involved.

An example is the short-lived UPN reality series Britney and Kevin: Chaotic which chronicles Britney Spears and then-husband Keven Federline's relationship. It was slammed by critics when it aired as they called it a career suicide for the singer and a trainwreck.

Years later, Spears admitted that she regretted doing the series and called it "the worst thing [she's] done in [her] career."

Another similar example is the short-lived series House of Carters which chronicles Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter and his family's daily lives. However, it was criticized for being an extremely messy watch.

The Cringeworthy

There are also celebrity reality shows that are just cringeworthy for the viewers despite running for multiple seasons.

An example is My Fair Brady which chronicles the relationship and marriage of The Brady Bunch star Christopher Knight and America's Next Top Model vet Adrianne Curry. Their romance somehow became popular when they fell in love in The Surreal Life.

The series lasted three seasons, even though it did not receive an enthusiastic reaction during its airing due to several cringe moments, and viewers found the whole conceit questionable.

Another example is the reality series starring the late Anna Nicole Smith called The Anna Nicole Show as viewers found it to be exploitative of Smith's personal struggles and played for laughs. Unfortunately, she passed away from combined drug intoxication a few years later.
