Cate Blanchett is Excited for Thor: Love and Thunder

Cate Blanchett had played the villain Hela for Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok, and though we're not expecting her to make a return, Blanchett is already excited for the next Thor movie, Love and Thunder.

Talking to Entertainment Tonight, Blanchett was asked about her thoughts for Thor 4, and she said, "Oh, totally! I'm so, so excited. And with Taika [Waititi as director], it'll be, I'm so looking forward to seeing it. You know, because I absolutely loved seeing them all with my kids, but I really, really loved Captain Marvel." Blanchett adds, "Yeah, no offense, Taika, but it was probably my favorite. And then to know that Natalie [Portman] is going to have such a pivotal role is really exciting."

We don't really have a full handle on what the story for Love and Thunder is yet, but if we're going to follow the comic Jane Foster's storyline, then we should expect Portman's Foster to be diagnosed with a terminal illness, forcing Thor to "save" her by handing her Mjolnir so she could be the new Thor.

Of course, this is just my guess. It's very likely that Taika Waititi could go another way with his script. After Thor: Ragnarok, I'm just hoping for something more genuine and human. I mean, if you've watched Waititi's previous films like Hunt for the Wilderpeople and Boy, you'll realize that there was a lot of his signature style missing from Thor: Ragnarok. Hopefully, Marvel Studios lets him try though.

Catch Thor: Love and Thunder when it comes out Nov. 5, 2021.
