Last week, word came out that internet trolls were review "bombing" Captain Marvel on Rotten Tomatoes' anticipation score tab before its big premiere in March. Now, the review-aggregation website has seemingly disabled the feature.

Possibly responding to all the seemingly "fake" and negative reviews of highly anticipated films like Marvel's first female-led standalone comic book movie, Captain Marvel, Rotten Tomatoes has decided to remove its "Want to See" metric from the site. Before the metric was removed, Brie Larson's upcoming debut as Marvel's strongest Avenger was plagued with a 29% Want to See rating despite the fact that anticipation for Captain Marvel has been at an all-time high.

The "Want to See" score was affected by site reviews that claimed disinterest in the film for many reasons. Some said they didn't like Captain Marvel because it was led by a female superhero. Others disliked Larson's mission to raise funds so that young girls could see the film. Others yet claimed that they hated the film's "social justice warrior agenda."

Captain Marvel isn't the only film affected by trolls. Star Wars: Episode IX has also been review bombed by Rotten Tomato users, except that the reviews seem to come from disgruntled and traditional fans instead of sexist trolls.

Despite these review bombs, Captain Marvel remains as one of the most highly anticipated Marvel movies of the year, and the excitement shows in the film's advanced ticket sales. The film has become the third best selling movie in terms of pre-sales.

Captain Marvel premieres on March 8, 2019.
