Captain Marvel 2 forms part of the roster of Marvel films coming in the near future and will be a pivotal film for Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Avengers are on their rebuilding stage. Although not much is known for the upcoming film, it adds yet another creative mind to complement the already staggering production team behind the film – none other than the Oscar-Nominated cinematographer Sean Bobbitt of Judas and the Black Messiah.

Sean Bobbit confirmed his participation in Captain Marvel 2 in an interview with Below The Line where he shares that while this film is in uncharted territory for him, he is quite excited to explore a new type of film. Bobbit says, "I'm hoping to get back. I'm sort of signed up to shoot Captain Marvel II, so that will be a real change for me. It's a very different type of film to what I usually make, and I'm very excited to be a part of that."

He is well-known for his cinematography in the film Judas and the Black Messiah and he said in an interview with the Good Creative Show that Captain Marvel 2 is the "complete polar opposite" of his recent film. Further, he shared that there is a challenge for him as a cinematographer to work in a different genre of film. He says that CGI scares him, "The CGI world. That technology is moving on so quickly and trying to not get lost in the CGI. I remember it's about the people, it's about the characters."

The plot of Captain Marvel 2 is still in the shadows but what's confirmed is that Brie Larson will be back as Carol Danvers and she will be joined by a character introduced in WandaVision, Monica Rambeau portrayed by Teyonah Parris. The two will also be with a Marvel newcomer Iman Vellani who will be playing Kamala Khan/ Ms. Marvel.

Early rumors speculate that the film will be delving into the "Secret Invasion" arc in the comics where the Skrulls have been secretly replacing various characters including that of Earth's mightiest heroes.

The film will reportedly be starting its filming in the U.K. by Spring.

Captain Marvel 2 is set to premiere on November 11, 2022.
