Captain Carter fans, rejoice! Peggy will finally be having her own comic series after her successful transition to being the first Avenger in the premiere episode of What If..? and her solo outing has already been teased by Marvel Entertainment in an exciting new post on their official Twitter account.
The announcement was made on the official Twitter account of Marvel Entertainment with a short clip of the shield of Peggy as Captain Carter and it bears the words “reporting for duty – March 2022. #MarvelComics” This means that she will now have her own comic book series which is possibly connected to her story in What If..?
Marvel Comics teased what is in store and a press release is expected to be out tomorrow, Friday, December 10, for more information on the upcoming comic book series. Peggy Carter first appeared in the Tales of Suspense #75 in 1966 as the love interest of Captain America/ Steve Rogers and is one of the founders of S.H.I.E.L.D.
She had her own live-action series with Hayley Atwell portraying the character and such has been considered as canon. It lasted for 2 seasons. The latest outing of Peggy Carter is becoming Captain Carter in Marvel’s What If..? and she was selected to be one of the Guardians of the Multiverse, which, in the end, was successful in saving all of humanity from different universes.
In Marvel’s What If..? Episode 1, it was supposed to be Steve Rogers who would be the original recipient of the Super Soldier serum when a bomb exploded just in time before the procedure on Steve Rogers went through. Being the scrawny big-hearted courageous man that he is, he got out of the machine but got shot in the process, rendering him unfit for the procedure of receiving the super-soldier serum.
When Howard Stark knew what has to be done, he declared that the serum has to be administered right then and there, or nothing at all. Peggy, knowing that there is no other option, jumped on the chamber without hesitation, and Stark started the process, therefore, creating a super-soldier.
Superiors didn’t approve of it, of course. In the 40s, women were perceived differently, lesser than a man. She was even mocked she might lose a nail if she goes to the field. Still, Peggy proved everyone wrong when she stopped the convoy of Arnim Zola who handles the Tesseract. After that, she got her designation as a Captain.
More information is about to arrive as regards Captain Carter comic book series. Should you want to see Captain Carter in action, Marvel’s What If..? is currently streaming on Disney Plus.
