Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were in the U.K. earlier this month for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Several sources claimed that they had not interacted with the senior members of the royal family Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla Parker Bowles, Prince William and Kate Middleton. However, according to a royal expert, Camilla actually extended an invitation to meet the Duke and Duchess of Sussexes, but they rejected it.
Camilla Parker Bowles Reportedly Wanted To See Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Privately
The Sussexes are reportedly at odds with the other members of the royal family. Prince Harry was never seen speaking to his father, Prince Charles, or brother Prince William when they were at St. Paul's Cathedral for the National Service of Thanksgiving in honor of the Queen on June 3.
The lack of interaction among them sparked rumors that Prince Harry's relationship with his dad and brother has remained strained. However, according to royal expert Neil Sean, who has been featured as a royal commentator and correspondent on various outlets, including Fox News, Access Hollywood, and Sky News Australia, the Duchess of Cornwall attempted to reach out to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
According to Sean on his YouTube channel, Camilla wanted to help mend Prince Harry and Markle's relationship with his dad because the Prince of Wales does not like confrontation. The future queen consort wanted her son-in-law and daughter-in-law to be comfortable and was reportedly "willing to meet anywhere at their discretion."
However, the Sussexes allegedly declined and didn't see her.
Why Did Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Refuse To Meet Stepmom Camilla Parker Bowles?
Sean wasn't sure why the meeting didn't happen but speculated that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's response to her invitation had something to do with his upcoming memoir. There are several concerns that the Duke of Sussex's memoir would target the royals, especially his father's second wife, Camilla Parker Bowles.
"One has to suggest that perhaps Camilla could feature very heavily in Prince Harry's book," Sean suggested.
However, he noted that Prince Harry would only make his relationship with the Prince of Wales worse if his writing about Camilla in his book is less than kind and fair.
According to a report from Page Six, Prince Harry is still not a fan of Camilla. He was reportedly not happy when the Queen gave her blessings for Camilla to be "Queen Consort" when Prince Charles takes over the throne.
A highly placed source said that while Prince William has grown used to Camilla, Prince Harry will reportedly never fully accept her. The Duke of Sussex didn't make a public statement when the Queen announced Camilla's future title during his father's reign.
"Years of hard graft [hard work] from Charles’ courtiers have gone into making Camilla palatable to the British public, and the world at large. And Camilla has worked tirelessly to ingratiate herself — she’s been by Charles’ side for 16 years of marriage," an insider said.
"But Harry will never truly love her, his mother was meant to be queen, and Camilla will always be the woman who led to his parents’ divorce. This will be the first time that Harry has not joined his family on the balcony at Buckingham Palace, and I’m sure it will be a difficult moment."
