Breaking Bad: Aaron Paul Says El Camino Was Originally 3 Hours Long

Breaking Bad had left the ending of Jesse Pinkman open-ended, but last week we got a definitive end to his story with El Camino. As it turns out, the movie was supposed to be longer than what was released.

According to Collider, Aaron Paul had revealed that the original cut for the film was supposed to be three hours long. They write: [Paul] revealed an earlier cut ofEl Camino was three hours (!) and how Gilligan ended up cutting out about thirty percent of the film in the editing room.

We don't have any details on what got left on the cutting room floor, but hopefully, Vince Gilligan explains it to the fans sometime down the line. Personally I wanted to know how the White family was doing after Walter's death, and I would have wanted to get an update on Skyler, Walt Jr., and Holly.

Admittedly El Camino didn't feel like a movie, but rather a really long episode of Breaking Bad. It has everything you can expect from the show from elaborate hijinks to creative montage sequences, and I thought it served as a good epilogue. If you ask me, maybe they should have turned it into a one-season miniseries, but maybe that would cost too much.

If anything, a lot of fans can rest easy that the movie didn't ruin the "perfect" ending of Breaking Bad. Now I'm just here hoping we get an update on Jesse when Better Call Saul comes back next year.
