What's up with Lila's bracelet in The Umbrella Academy season 4? This little trinket means more to Diego and Lila's story than you think. Considering that it was brought up at the end of the show, here's what confused fans about it.
SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for Netflix's The Umbrella Academy season 4, so proceed with caution.
Lila's Hatred of Bracelets Doesn't Make Sense
What seems such a small detail about Lila doesn't seem as small to Diego. While they got off to a rough start in The Umbrella Academy season 2, they naturally developed feelings for one another over time.
When Diego and Lila first met in the second season, he was ironically weaving a bracelet as part of an activity, which Lila took behind his back.
Since then, Diego had somehow associated her with it. Lila never took it off. On the occasions that she did, it would end up right back in her possession, thanks to Diego keeping it for her behind their fights.
It established just how important Lila was to Diego, even before they had grown to have a family together in the series. Unfortunately, The Umbrella Academy season 4 is not for the fans who grew fond of their relationship...
The Umbrella Academy Finale Butchers Diego and Lila's Love Story
Amid the chaos brought by alternate timelines-jumping, Five and Lila somehow get stuck together, leaving Diego with their kids in season 4.
As Five and Lila are grasping at straws in their attempt to return to their original timeline, they end up staying in the same universe for seven years.
What happens next irked fans as they watched Diego and Lila's build-up crumble for a fifth episode fling.
Lila may have concluded her fling with Five, but it didn't slip by Diego when she came home wearing a bracelet that Five specifically made for her.
What confused fans about it was that Diego's first line about the bracelet is, "You hate bracelets", as though to push the plot and have fans believe he caught her red-handedly cheating all this time.
No one knows where the line came from. Still, The Umbrella Academy showrunner Steve Blackman wanted to explore a different dynamic for Five's love story, which happened to be Lila, his 'extreme opposite' who 'understands' him.
