What Happened Before Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 269?

In Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 268, Target: The School Festival, Kae wakes up to Kawaki chasing an assassin and to comfort Kae from her worries, Kawaki postpones going to Naruto to report about what happened and chooses to come with Kae to the school festival.

Boruto and his classmates attend the festival, too. However, while on the final rehearsal for the history play, Hana Sensei gets a headache so she goes to the infirmary.

Kawaki is unaware that there is a cloaked figure from the rooftop and all of them receive letters that there are paper bombs that are about to explode in 20 minutes.

Boruto, Shino, and their classmates start to disarm the paper bombs and Ehou informs everyone that Eiki also did the same. Kawaki helps so he leaves Kae to Himawari.

The assassin arrives but Himawari protects Kae in time before Kawaki enters. Kae starts wondering whether Kawaki is there just to be her protector.
