In an effort to protect Kawaki from being kidnapped by Code, Boruto activates his Karma just so he can stand a chance against the powerful villain. However, there's a risk that Momoshiki will take over his body again. However, in Boruto Chapter 64, it was revealed that Boruto surprisingly has a new level of control over his Karma mark thanks to the experimental drug that Amado gave him.

After Boruto activates his Karma, Kawaki is immediately concerned that Momoshiki will wake up to take over Boruto's body, but when Boruto tells Kawaki to stand back, both Kawaki and Code are surprised that he's still able to maintain control. Boruto is even able to use his Shadow Clone Jutsu, and both Code and Ada wonder if this is the effect of the medication Amado gave Boruto. Kawaki remarks that Boruto's new level of Karma seems more powerful than before, but none of them know how he is able to keep his mind intact. Boruto thinks it might be the effect of Amado's drug, but the scientist did say it was experimental and dangerous, so it's unclear how exactly Boruto is able to achieve this new level of Karma.

However, it looks like the power boost also has a negative effect as the final moments of the manga chapter teased. Boruto appears to crash in the final page of Chapter 64, and it looks like he and Kawaki are not in deeper trouble as Code will likely dominate the fight in the next chapter.
