Blue Eye Samurai is set in 17th-century Japan when the nation had sealed its borders to the outside world.

Encountering a non-Japanese face was an extraordinary rarity, occurring only in the clandestine world of illegal trade.

The protagonist, Mizu, harbors the knowledge that, during her birth era, there existed only four white men within Japan’s confines.

She embarks on a perilous mission to confront these individuals, one of whom might be her father.

This man, Abijah Fowler, might be responsible for her enduring a life filled with disgrace.

However, vengeance remains a forbidden pursuit for women, compelling Mizu to disguise not only her true gender but also her striking blue eyes.

During Mizu’s journey, she finds companions in Ringo, an enthusiastic soba maker with aspirations of grandeur; Princess Akemi, Taigen’s promised bride, whose opulent existence stands in stark contrast to Mizu’s own; and Taigen, a haughty samurai whose rivalry ultimately forges an uneasy alliance.

Mizu also finds a father figure in the swordmaster, Master Eiji. He is Ringo's father who is renowned for his craft as a bladesmith.

Along the way, Mizu will cross paths with the blood-soaked Chiaki, who stole a broken blade from Master Eiji. He leads a gang of cruel assassins that will delay Mizu's path of vengeance.
