How Old Is Mizu in Blue Eye Samurai? Possible Age Explained
Mizu’s age in Blue Eye Samurai is unknown, but we are guessing that she is in her 20s.
She was born in Japan around 1637–1638, at a time when the country had banned foreigners from entering its borders.
Only four white men were in Japan at the time of Mizu’s birth, and one of them could be Mizu’s father.
Mizu’s mother, on the other hand, is a Japanese woman who suffered a terrible fate from these Westerners. She later died after an assassination attempt on her daughter, Mizu.
As a half-breed, other children never embraced Mizu’s physical appearance. Her wide, rounded blue eyes scared the other children since they depicted Japanese supernatural beings, particularly the “oni”.

How Old Is Ringo?
Ringo’s name in Japanese means “apple”. He is Mizu’s only faithful apprentice throughout her journey in Blue Eye Samurai season 1.
Not much is known about Ringo’s age and birthday, but we are speculating that he is younger than Mizu, or perhaps in the same age bracket.
He was born without hands, most likely because he was left to die as an infant. Even so, Ringo’s disability did not stop him from pursuing a path within the four social classes: samurai, merchant, farmer, and artisan.
On Ringo’s 7th birthday, he got lost in the forest, where he claimed that he spent some time with a tanuki family.

How Old Is Taigen?
Similar to Mizu and Ringo, Taigen’s age in Blue Eye Samurai is undisclosed. His birthday is also unknown, but he was born in a village in Kohama, on the central east coast of Japan.
His father was an abusive and drunk fisherman who would always take out his anger on him.
As a result, Taigen takes it upon himself to change his destiny. He moved out of Kohama and left the village for good to follow the way of the samurai.
He enrolled himself in the Shindo Dojo, and he eventually became its top student after winning 24 consecutive matches.
How Old Is Princess Akemi?
Unfortunately, Princess Akemi’s age is also unknown in Blue Eye Samurai, but we are assuming that she is 15–25 years old, considering she’s already allowed to marry into another family.
She was originally engaged to Taigen, but after the latter lost against Mizu, she was arranged to marry Ito Takayoshi, the second son of the Shogunate.
Unlike other women her age, Princess Akemi has very big dreams. She wants to be in charge of her own fate and destiny without her father’s control.
She’s opposed to their family’s traditional practices and aims to change them someday.
How Old Is Abijah Fowler?
Abijah Fowler is one of the four white men who caused pain and suffering not only to Mizu but also to her biological mother.
He is an Irish man who’s involved in the illegal trade of arms, weaponry, opium, flesh, and more. He is also Heiji Shindo’s business partner, who swore loyalty to the Shogunate despite having plans to overthrow his rulership in Japan.
Abijah Fowler’s age and birthday are also unknown. What is certain is that he wants to become the true ruler of Japan after he opens its borders to the West.
His other crimes include murder, treason, mass filicide, and an attempted coup. His hobby is having sex with prostitutes.
How Old Is the Swordmaker?
Not much is known about the swordmaker, also known as Master Eiji.
His age is unknown, but based on his character design, physical appearance, and features, he would most likely be 50–70 years old. His birthplace is also unknown.
Master Eiji is respected by a lot of samurai, including those corrupt and abusive assassins.
His swords and blades are top-tier, which most samurai want to obtain for their personal interests. He became Mizu’s adoptive father after he took her home, fed her, and trained her.
Originally, Master Eiji was opposed to Mizu’s revenge plan, but he eventually gave in after knowing how serious and devoted his adoptive daughter was. Despite being blind, Master Eiji has no problems living by himself.

Meet Blue Eye Samurai’s Other Characters
The first season of Blue Eye Samurai would not be complete without the other characters in the story. Here are some of them and their personal information:
- Takayoshi’s age and birthday are unknown, but he looks like he’s in his 30s. He is the second son of the Shogun Itoh, and he married Princess Akemi. On the surface, he acts like a cold and aloof person, but underneath it lies a meek, kind, and gentle guy, much to Akemi’s delight.
- Mikio is Mizu’s ex-husband. He is also a samurai who races horses to earn the pardon of the Lord. He fell in love with Mizu, but their life together had a tragic ending.
- Chiaki is the leader of a group of assassins called the Four Fangs. He is also known as Bloodsoaked Chiaki, the one who holds Master Eiji’s broken blade. His age and birthplace are unknown.
- Seki’s age and birthday are unknown, but he looks like he’s in his 60s. He is the number one supporter of Princess Akemi, who only wants the best for her.
- Madame Kaji is a middle-aged woman who prides herself on being a brothel madam in Mihonoseki.
