Blood & Treasure creators Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia tease Blood & Treasure Season 2 will have “prophetic” plot points, knowing it was filmed two to three years ago.

Blood & Treasure Season 2 will be exclusively seen on Paramount+ this time. Danny (Matt Barr) and Lexi (Sofia Pernas) will continuously go around the world to recover the Spirit Banner of Genghis Khan. There will be some familiar and eerie scenes fans are about to witness, so are viewers ready for another adventure?

Blood & Treasure Season 2 Plotline

The show’s first season started in May 2019. But back then, Federman and Scaia were already working in the second season.

Since then, a lot has happened not just in the fictional story of Danny and Lexi but in the real world.

So, in an interview with TVLine, the EPs warned fans that they should be prepared for some “prophetic plot points.”

When Blood & Treasure Season 2 begins, Danny and Lexi will try their best to track the last of Farouk’s back market antiquities. After that, they will start to plan for the future, but the terrorist attacks in the Vatican will quickly derail it.

This will lead the two on a hunt to recover one of Asia’s greatest treasures, the Spirit Banner of Genghis Khan.

Federman and Scaia Discuss Blood & Treasure Season 2

Federman revealed they started shooting for the second season in 2019 or 2020.

So, the “oldest piece” of the series would be the scenes in the mountains above Rome for the Mongolia episode. It was taken in July 2019.

Given that it was shot three years ago, Scaia cleared that Blood & Treasure Season 2 would be in “present days” because there would be no specific year mentioned.

Despite that, he teased that it would be interesting because of how “prophetic” it was.

“There are going to be a lot of times where we’re going to need to be publicly saying, ‘Now, remember, this was all conceived of in 2018 and 2019, so don’t read anything into anything that’s happening here,’” Federman explained. “We’re not commenting now on specifics, but…. yeah.”

The Difference Between Season 1 and Blood & Treasure Season 2

If there’s one thing that will make Blood & Treasure Season 2 different from Season 1, it will be the authorities' involvement.

“One big thing we learned was that the show felt like it worked the best the more we leaned into it as a pure adventure show and the less it was [something where] police and authorities were involved,” Federman revealed. “INTERPOL was a big part of Season 1, but the next season is more the characters on their own and not really involving the authorities.”

Blood & Treasure Season 2 Big Bad and New Characters

Fans will see James Callis as the big bad Simon Hardwick in Blood & Treasure Season 2. So, how will Danny and Lexi deal with him this time?

“Everyone kind of expects a bit of Hannibal Lecter. We actually call that out but decided to flip that on its head, and rather than have it be about [him] breaking out, it’s actually the villain who realizes how useful he is, and the villain is the one who ends up working with [Danny and Lexi],” Federman continued.

Per the new characters fans are about to meet, fans will see someone from Danny and Lexy’s past.

Victoria Diamond will be seen in the series as Kate, the daughter of Jacob Reece (John Larroquette) and Michelle Lee as Violet, Lexy’s partner in crime.

These two will try to pull them back to where they used to be when Blood & Treasure Season 2 premieres on July 17.
