Bleach Creator Shares Update on Thousand-Year Blood War Anime

Bleach is one of the most popular shonen franchises, and the anime series is making a huge comeback this year after the show ended prematurely and Tite Kubo's manga ended Ichigo Kurosaki years ago. Last March, the creators announced the upcoming return of the anime: Bleach Season 17, which is expected to adapt the Thousand-Year Blood War Arc of Tite Kubo's manga series.

Bleach creator Tite Kubo recently did a Q&A with members of his fan club, and it was there the mangaka shared two major updates about the return of Bleach.

As he revealed, the Thousand-Year Blood War arc will take time to answer things the original source couldn't get to. Kubo worked closely with the anime's team to provide the answers, so fans of the shonen series should expect new content from this adaptation. For example, the final season will explain who exactly targeted Rukia during the first Quincy Invasion, and that's just the beginning.

Kubo also revealed that some of his spin-off manga titles might also get anime adaptations. For instance, an anime adaptation of We Do Knot Always Love You is being considered, but it hasn't been officially confirmed yet. The adaptation of the Thousand-Year Blood War will have to do incredibly well to convince the higher-ups to green-light the spin-off.

Bleach, which made its television debut on October 5, 2004 with the help of Studio Pierrot, released 16 seasons of the shonen series, which has a total of 366 episodes. The last episode aired on March 27, 2012, and after about a decade, the anime is finally making a return in October 2022.
