Marvel's Blade Reportedly Casts Ant-Man and the Wasp Actor

Marvel Studios is currently finding a new director for Blade after director Bassam Tariq exited the project last September. However, in the midst of their search, it looks like work for the film is still up and running as they reportedly have recruited an actor who previously appeared in another MCU film to join the project.

According to The Direct, notable insider Daniel Richtman has reported that Joshua Mikel, who played one of Sonny Burch's bodyguards in Ant-Man and the Wasp, is joining the cast of Blade. However, it is unknown yet if he will play the same character or will have a different role instead.

We do have to take note that Mikel's casting has not been confirmed yet by Marvel nor reported by the major trades so we still have to take it with a grain of salt. Considering that Richtman has reported a lot of accurate scoops in the past, there is a likelihood that this ends up being true.

With this reported casting, Mikel becomes the first actor who showed up on-screen in a previous MCU film to get cast in this film and it does pose a question of whether he will play the same character or take on a different role. Considering that he only had a small part in Ant-Man and the Wasp, there is a chance that he will play a new and bigger role instead.

We're also still waiting for news and updates regarding Marvel's search for a new director and there is a chance that we will be hearing about it soon. Production is reportedly set to begin around the spring of next year ahead of its fall 2024 release.

The film's confirmed cast members include Mahershala Ali, Aaron Pierre, Delroy Lindo, and Milan Ray. However, with Tariq's recent exit, it is unknown yet whether the supporting actors are still attached to the film. Beau DeMayo is writing the current draft of the screenplay.
