Marvel Studios released a jaw-dropping sizzle reel earlier this week which finally sheds some light about the release dates for some of the MCU offerings fans can expect for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Intriguingly, the upcoming Blade reboot starring Mahershala Ali was omitted from the teaser which may have implied that the project will no longer be having a 2022 release date as previously reported.

Details about the reboot have been sporadic but according to reports, Marvel is eyeing a black director to helm the project. Last February, the project finally found its writer in Emmy award winner Stacy Osei-Kuffour which led a lot of fans to believe that production will begin very soon. However, that doesn't seem to be the case and in a stunning new development, the production start for the highly-anticipated film has reportedly been pushed back.

In a new scoop from The Hollywood Reporter, Blade's production has officially been moved from September 2021 to July 2022. Of course, considering the amount of time it takes for these Marvel films to be created, it doesn't look like they'll be able to finish in time to give it a late 2022 release. The reason behind the delay wasn't disclosed.

Although it may seem like a huge bummer, it could turn out to be a blessing in disguise after all as it clearly gives Marvel more time to work on the project and see what aspects they can improve on. And besides, 2022 is also already pretty stacked anyway with films like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, and The Marvels all hitting cinemas.

Other details about Marvel Studios' Blade are being kept under wraps.
