Black Widow Trailer Has an Ursa Major Easter Egg

Ever since Marvel Studios released their Black Widow trailer, fans have been watching it over and over to find any easter eggs or secrets. There's a lot to like too, from the cool action shots to David Harbour showing off his muscles as The Red Guardian, fans have many reasons to watch this over and over. One fan has found a major reference to another Russian superhero in Marvel Comics and that hero is Ursa Major.

In the comics, Ursa Major is a mutant who transforms into a super-strong bear, which is pretty awesome. The character is known for being in the Winter Guard, think Russia's Avengers, but has also been involved in some Black Widow stories. He recently appeared in the Tales of Suspense mini-series that featured Hawkeye and Winter Soldier finding out something about Natasha's past, which actually led to her resurrection.

So, how does he appear in the trailer? Well, there's a bear figure that can be seen in one of the trailer's scenes and since this movie will focus on The Red Room and the creation of Black Widows, paying tribute to Ursa Major makes some sense. We know some fans will say "Durr, it's just a bear you guys" but, come on guys. It's a damn reference.

While it would be awesome to see Major in the actual movie, that probably won't happen unless there's a last-minute surprise Marvel has planned. It would be pretty cool to see Ursa Major fight alongside the Black Widow "family" but don't expect to see it.

Black Widow hits theaters on May 1, 2020.
