Florence Pugh might be rising in the ranks of Hollywood with appearances in films like critically acclaimed films like Midsommar and Little Women, however, it seems like trolls have begun bullying the actress on Instagram, forcing the Black Widow star to shut down all of the toxicity.
Taking to Instagram earlier this week to celebrate the birthday of her boyfriend, Zach Braff, Pugh decided to share a photo of her lover and the dog that they've been raising together. The photo was innocent enough, however, Instagram trolls began raining the post with negative and toxic remarks, bullying both the actress and her boyfriend.
Now, in a new video post on Instagram, Pugh has decided to address the bullies on her account.
"I will not allow that behavior on my page," Pugh says, taking charge of how these trolls have been behaving on Instagram. "It makes me upset. It makes me sad that during this time when we really all need to be together, we need to be supporting one another, we need to be loving one another — the world is aching. The world is dying, and a few of you decided to bully for no reason."
It's terrible how netizens have been bullying celebrities online. Pugh isn't the first actress to have been bullied by social media users. Star Wars actress Kelly Marie Tran has been on the receiving end of personal attacks by racist Star Wars fans against the actress' Star Wars character, Rose Tico. Star Wars sequel trilogy lead, Daisy Ridley, has also been bullied by sexist fans.
We don't condone this kind of behavior among pop culture fans. It isn't right to personally attack actors and actresses just because you don't enjoy the character that they portray in a film or in a television series. We're glad to see that Pugh is standing up to all this toxicity.
Black Widow is set to premiere on November 6, 2020.
