Black Panther Star Letitia Wright Breaks Silence on Anti-Vax Controversy

It's already no secret to a lot of fans that production for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever wasn't as smooth-sailing as other Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. The sequel faced several mishaps over the course of its filming and just last year, actress Letitia Wright was the main subject of controversy.

Wright suffered an injury on the set of Wakanda Forever last October which forced the studio to suspend the project's filming indefinitely. Shockingly enough, at that time, there were rumors swirling across the web that the Shuri actress wasn't exactly injured and was just reprimanded by Disney over her alleged anti-vax views.

To those unaware, Letitia reportedly espoused her views against COVID-19 vaccines on the set of Wakanda Forever, a claim that she previously dismissed. Now, a few months following the controversy, the 28-year-old MCU star is once again breaking her silence.

Speaking with Variety at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, Letitia addressed the rumors surrounding her behavior on set. She said: "I’ve learned that in life, you just have to keep going strong with what you believe in, in terms of your talent, in terms of your desire to impact the world with your art, and that’s exactly what I’m doing, and I’m so proud of myself and the movie that’s coming out this year. I’m so proud of it."

While Wright didn't exactly offer a direct answer regarding her anti-vax controversy, it's safe to assume that all is well between her and Marvel. Either the claims about her being an anti-vaxxer aren't true or Disney talked things out with the actress.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits cinemas on November 11, 2022.
