We're all still in shock over the death of 43-year-old Chadwick Boseman, who wowed us with his performances in Black Panther and Da 5 Bloods. It's a shame that we lost someone so talented at a young age and the fact he never told anyone about his colon cancer publically shows just how determined he was to live his life, despite that sickness.
Since his death, social media has been filled with tributes to the actor. We've seen some great posts from his Marvel co-stars like Robert Downey Jr. and Brie Larson, showing just how loved he was by his co-stars. Ryan Coogler, who worked closely with Chadwick Boseman as the director of Black Panther, penned a heartbreaking tribute to the actor on Deadline. Needless to say, you might want a box of tissues.
It's a beautiful piece that reveals how Boseman was like during the filming of Black Panther. He was clearly passionate about the movie but was also a thoughtful individual that cared about the art he was making. Here's only a small excerpt from what Coogler wrote since everyone needs to read what the director wrote.
Chad deeply valued his privacy, and I wasn't privy to the details of his illness. After his family released their statement, I realized that he was living with his illness the entire time I knew him. Because he was a caretaker, a leader, and a man of faith, dignity and pride, he shielded his collaborators from his suffering. He lived a beautiful life. And he made great art. Day after day, year after year. That was who he was. He was an epic firework display. I will tell stories about being there for some of the brilliant sparks till the end of my days. What an incredible mark he's left for us.
Rest in power Chadwick Boseman. You were an excellent T'Challa and made everyone proud with your work in Black Panther. We can't imagine what a sequel will be like without him.
