Today, the Producers Guild of America (PGA) Awards announced their nominations for this year's ceremony where they recognized some of the best films and TV shows from last year. For this line-up, a lot of them went to high-profile and blockbuster projects that were talked about including an MCU film and two Star Wars shows.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is named one of the ten films that are nominated in the marquee category Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures. The first film was also nominated in this category back when it was competing in its respective awards season.
The sequel will be competing against other films such as Avatar: The Way of Water, The Banshees of Inisherin, Elvis, Everything Everywhere All At Once, The Fabelmans, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Tár, Top Gun: Maverick, and The Whale.
The critically-acclaimed Star Wars series Andor received a nomination in the Norman Felton Award for Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television – Drama category. It is nominated alongside Better Call Saul, Ozark, Severance, and The White Lotus.
Meanwhile, Obi-Wan Kenobi was also able to receive a nomination for the David L. Wolper Award for Outstanding Producer of Limited or Anthology Series Television category. It will be competing against Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, The Dropout, Inventing Anna, and Pam & Tommy.
It is very impressive to see these films and TV shows get recognized by the producers in the entertainment industry as some of the best from last year. It would be interesting t see whether they will end up winning their respective categories once they award the winners.
However, they will be facing tough competition although, no matter what happens, it's already been proven by being included in this list that they are beloved projects that the audience love.
The 34th Producers Guild of America (PGA) Awards will take place on February 25.
