Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Sets Major All-Time Box Office Record

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is finally out in theaters and the audience flocked to see the next chapter in the MCU that grapples with the aftermath of T'Challa's death and how the nation of Wakanda moves forward without him. Based on the numbers that are now coming in, it looks like a lot of people did see the film in its opening weekend as it has smashed an all-time record.

Variety has reported that the latest MCU film earned around $180 million in its domestic opening weekend which led them to set the record of the biggest box office opening for a November release, beating the 2013 film The Hunger Games: Catching Fire which earned $158 million.

In terms of its global box office, the film has already netted $330 million with $150 million coming from the 55 overseas markets. While it didn't crack the biggest opening weekend debut this year, it is second to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which launched at $187.4 million back in May.

This is definitely a cause of celebration for Disney and Marvel since they were able to meet the expectations of the box office analysts. Based on the general audience's responses and its "A" CinemaScore, it looks like it has huge potential to have great box office legs in the coming weeks.

It is also worth noting that we are still in the COVID-19 era where the box office state has been uncertain. While this film is not expected to surpass the first one due to the current circumstances, it is still a huge win since it is all but assured that it will break even in the coming weeks.

For now, let's just wait and see how it will do in the next few weeks where it is expected to continue to do well at the box office since there are not a lot of major competitors that are coming.
