Black Panther 2 Receives Critics Choice Awards Nominations

The Critics Choice Association (CCA) has announced today the film nominees in the 28th Annual Critics Choice Awards honoring the best in cinema today and it is being chosen by hundreds of critics and journalists in the entertainment industry. Most of the expected awards contenders were able to make it.

Fortunately, the MCU was also represented in the list this year as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was able to bag six nominations including Best Supporting Actress for Angela Bassett, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design, Best Hair and Makeup, Best Visual Effects, and Best Song for "Lift Me Up."

Bassett will be competing in her category with other actresses such as Jessie Buckley (Woman Talking), Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), Jamie Lee Curtis and Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once), and Janelle Monae (Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery).

The actress' nomination here follows the series of major Oscar buzz that she's been getting ever since the release of the film and the numerous accolades that she's also been getting in the past couple of weeks including a Golden Globe nomination, which is also an Oscar precursor just like this.

In the Best Song category, Rihanna bagged another nomination this season for "Lift Me Up" which is competing with songs from films such as Where the Crawdads Sing, Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, Top Gun: Maverick, RRR, and White Noise.

As for the below-the-line categories that they're nominated for, it will be competing with several acclaimed films that were released this year such as Avatar: The Way of Water, The Fabelmans, Elvis, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Babylon, The Woman King, and many more.

This is certainly a great honor for the makers of the film since this is yet again another recognition that they're receiving this season. While it didn't garner a Best Picture nomination like in the first film, this is still very worthy and it just shows how many critics love the sequel a lot.
