Black Label Announces Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey Series from a Familiar Creative Team

It looks like DC wants to go all-in with their hype for Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) by doubling down on more comics that feature the characters. Seems like the upcoming Black Label Birds of Prey series from veteran Brian Azzarello isn't enough for DC since they just announced another Black Label series called Harley Quinn and The Birds of Prey.

Who is the creative team you may ask? Harley Quinn fans get hyped since Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti from the DCYou and Rebirth era of the character will be penning this four-issue mini-series for DC's Black Label imprint. The creative team has penned more than 80 issues of the character, counting the various one-shots and spin-offs that they've written of course, so this is a pretty big deal.

Here's DC's description of the book, courtesy of Newsarama:

"With Harley finally done with The Joker, she's moving forward with her life (as only she can) until she's beset by a rogue's gallery of Gotham City's worst villains, the target of a $10,000,000 bounty placed on her head by the Clown Prince of Crime. It will take the help of Black Canary, Cassandra Cain (a.k.a. Batgirl), Renee Montoya, and the Huntress to help Harley and get to the bottom of why The Joker has turned Gotham's worst loose on her."

How this will differ from Azzarello's book isn't known yet but given the previous works of Conner and Palmiotti, this will probably be a touch lighter than the other book. The fact that this is only four issues probably means that they don't really have more plans for Harley, at least for now.

Fans will be able to purchase Harley Quinn and The Birds of Prey in January 2020.
