However, the excitement and enthusiasm were turned into a rain of boos when Johnson revealed a concerning remark regarding the future of Henry Cavill's Superman in the franchise. To those unaware, rumors began swirling online that the British actor was set to make a surprise appearance at SDCC to address his DCEU future. Fans expected him to show up during the Black Adam panel after it was reported by several outlets that he made a cameo in the film's post-credits scene.

The Rock even previously assured the fandom that he listens to them and knows exactly what they truly desire. Naturally, it gave a lot of people renewed hope regarding Cavill's return as the Man of Steel. But when Johnson was asked about the anticipated clash between Black Adam and Superman, he simply responded: "Depends on who is playing Superman."

Intriguingly, The Rock didn't seem fazed by the fandom's negative reaction to what he said so if anything, this could mean that he's just trying to play it coy and there's a good chance he'll make good on his promise. Well, either that or he already anticipated the underwhelming reception.

DC's Black Adam is set for theatrical release on October 21, 2022.
