With the comic book movie genre at an all-time high right now, Amazon's The Boys couldn't be more relevant. What's great is, the second season is set to come out in a few months, and we have a new teaser showcasing the Seven and their clash with Billy Butcher and his gang of superhero haters.
The Boys is an irreverent take on what happens when superheroes, who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods, abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It's the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about "The Seven", and their formidable Vought backing.
As you can see, we should expect more of the shock and violence that we got from the first season, what with Butcher holding back no punches on the superheroes, and the superheroes—specifically Homelander—being a horrific sociopath.
With the second season though, we should expect new players. With Stillwell having died, Giancarlo Esposito's Stan Edgar is going to be the one pulling the strings of the Seven now. What's more, the super group gets a new member in the form of Stormfront, who in the comics is described as a "Nazi Superman." Seeing as Stormfront is a woman in the show, it's going to be interesting to see how different her character is this time.
Catch The Boys when they return to Amazon Prime Video this Sept. 4.
