Bill Gates' Professional Life

The 67-year-old co-founded Microsoft with his late childhood friend Paul Allen in 1975. While with the company, he used to be its chairman, chief executive officer (CEO), president, and chief software architect, while being its biggest individual shareholder, which lasted until May 2014.

This made Gates a major entrepreneur in the Microsoft revolution from the 1970s to the 1980s.

Come 2008, he started to work full-time at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the private charitable foundation he and his former wife, Melinda, established in 2000.

After leaving Microsoft, Gates pursued different businesses and philanthropic works. He founded and became the chairman of several companies, like BEN, Cascade Investment, TerraPower, cbC3, and Breakthrough Energy.

He has also donated a huge amount of money to different foundations and scientific research programs through their own foundation.

Gates has started to become a staple on Forbes' world's wealthiest people list since 1987. He held the publication's richest person in the world title from 1995 to 2017, except from 20110 to 2013.

However, come 2017, Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos took the crown after having an estimated net worth of $90.6 billion, bigger than Gates' $89.9 billion.

Bill Gates' Personal Life

Gates is taking another shot at love again. Rumors have it he's dating Paula Hurd, the widow of the late Oracle Corporation CEO Mark Hurd, almost two years after his divorce from Melinda.

The two were seen together at the Australian Open in January, sitting next to each other while watching the Men's Singles Final.

A source told People that Gates and Hurd's inner circle had already known their relationship for some time, though the latter hadn't met his kids yet. Gates has three kids, Jennifer, Rory, and Phoebe Gates, with Melinda.
